Could This Be The Answer You've Been Waiting For?

Hey SUM family, Tiffany here!

I have worked for my employer for a little over three years now. I do the same thing all day everyday. Monday through Friday, eight hours a day. I see the same computer screen as I fingerprint the numerous people who come into my office. The other day Holy Spirit alerted me to listen and pay attention to people's reactions to seeing their fingerprints on the computer screen, many of them for the first time:

Wow, that is so cool!

I have never seen this before!

Sorry, I am just amazed by this!

Look at that!

Can you believe that we all have different finger prints? No two prints are the same!?

Was I looking at the same machine? It is cool to see the detail, I guess.....

There are some of us who have forgotten how to be in love with and romanced by our King. Groom help bride up sillouetteWe have been on this journey for a long time.  Our eyes have adjusted to the normalcy of life. We've braced for life's storms for too long that we've gone into self-preservation mode. We have forgotten what is like to have childlike faith. This isn't a rebuke but a call to see things from God's perspective. Be refreshed! Be renewed! Be invigorated again!

I felt a strong impression from our Daddy God to lavish you with love today. If anything today resonates with you, my challenge is for you to take it and meditate on it. Don't allow the familiar to blur your vision of God's great love relationship with you. Don't doubt that you aren't good enough to receive it. Don't think, "He must be talking to someone else..."  This word is for you...yes YOU!

I have loved you, [insert your name here], with an everlasting love.
With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. (Jeremiah 31:3)

I will make you, [insert your name here], my wife forever,
showing you righteousness and justice,
unfailing love and compassion.
I will be faithful to you and make you mine,
and you will finally know me as the Lord. (Hosea 2:19-20)

My thoughts of you are countless for you are very precious to Me. (Psalm 139:17)

You can give me all of your worries and cares. They are not meant to be carried by you. I love you so much! (1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 55:22)

I am for you. You are my beloved and I am yours. (Song of Solomon 6:3)

I will give you everything that you need. You mean that much to me. (Romans 8:31)

There is nothing that can separate you from My love. (Romans 8:38-39)

I will rescue you. I will protect you. You can trust me. When you call on Me I am there. (Psalm 91)

One of my favorite things to do is watch over you as you sleep. (Psalm 3:5)

I will show you my goodness in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13)

I will never forsake you. I will never cast you off. (Psalm 94:14)

You are my masterpiece. My workmanship. I am so proud of you! (Ephesians 2:10)

You are my special treasure. You are so valuable to me! (Exodus 19:5, 1 Peter 2:9)

There is so much more that I could share. Every word in the Bible is dripping with His sweet love for you.

Beloved, stop striving. Stop trying to meet unattainable expectations of yourself...they're not from Him. Daddy God is so pleased with you. He delights in you so much that He breaks out in song over you. (Zephaniah 3:17)

I want to wrap up with this song. This is one to sit and soak in the love of your Daddy.

Let's share in the comments - sometimes life gives us a hard beating! What are some things that you do in order to remember the love God has for you? What are some things we can share with one another to fan the flames of our heart and fill us with hope? What keeps you standing firm and grounded in your relationship with Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?

A Table Set For Victory

Hey SUM family, Tiffany Here.

I pray that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This is absolutely my favorite time of year. I love gathering with family, eating fantastic food and reflecting  on all of the favor, mercy, and goodness of Daddy that has happened for the year.

As I was thinking last week about what Holy Spirit wanted me to share, I fingerprinted a man with a business logo on his sweatshirt that said "Stillwater." This prompted me to look up "still water" in the Bible. The main passage that came to mind was in Psalm 23:

 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

TABLE BEFORE ENEMIES*Photo credit: Loving Grace Ministries

Reading this familiar passage again I was shocked to see verse 5, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies..." I had completely forgotten that this verse was in this Psalm.

That is when Holy Spirit brought to my mind the song Surrounded (Fight My Battles) by Elyssa Smith from UPPERROOM. Forgive me if I've shared this song before. I love it so much. My favorite verses in this song say, "my weapons are praise and thanksgiving, this is how I fight my battles"

I have been seeing Psalm 23 all over the place since I first saw this man's sweatshirt. I know that of the Psalms, this one is so common and well known even in the secular world; however, this particular passage has not been on my radar for quite some time. Each and every time I am seeing a reference to Psalm 23 there is a different verse that is being highlighted. I think I need to dwell here for a while! I was inspired so much so that I committed this passage to memory. This is a first for me to memorize an entire passage. Woot!

I think with all of the apparent darkness and chaos going on in our community (illness, death, financial struggle, marriage breakdown, depression, chronic pain, etc) and in the world today I want us to meditate on this phrase, "I am beginning to see the darkness around me is just the shadow of Your wings." *Note: this is not my phrase, this gets me every time I listen to this song...SO SO GOOD.*

God has gone up with a shout,
The Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with understanding. (Psalm 47)

Please know that our Daddy is surrounding you with His love, presence, favor, mercy, and grace. I know we all know this but may we truly rejoice and sing praises with understanding! Understand your are highly favored. Understand you are loved. Understand you are cherished. Understand in your weakness He is strong. Understand that even in the toughest time of your life He is in control. Understand you are seated with Christ Jesus. Understand you have authority. Understand you are the victor. Understand it. Is. Finished!

Let us lift our voices in one accord today:

I don't know about you the Lord uses songs to get me through the darkest days. Share in the comments some songs that see you through tough times. Your suggestions could be healing salve and oil of joy to another. I love you SUM family.

Deliverance After YEARS Of Torment! Hallelujah!

Hello SUM Family, Tiffany Here!

The last couple of months I have been sharing a bit about what I have learned from reading a book called From Dream to Destiny by Robert Morris. I was assigned to read this book in class and I am so glad that I read it! This book has been truly amazing. To read the previous two posts I've written in this "mini-series" click on the links below.

This Is Just The Pits!

Do You Want Evidence Or The Truth?

In September I began to take steps to transition into a new church. As you read this, I have now been at this new church for 3 weeks. Each and every week has been so powerful and effective. Today I want to share with you a recent experience unlike anything I've ever had. It happened a little over a week ago on October 14, 2018. The following is what I posted the next day on Facebook (sharing here as well since a lot of you may not have Facebook or seen it because we aren't "friends"):

Worship at Hub is amazing. God is there. Holy Spirit presence is thick and tangible. We were singing a song I had never heard before. The lyrics were powerful and the words that floored me at the time were talking about laying my whole life down before Jesus our Savior. I was already worshipping on my knees but I couldn't help but crouch face down before God. I felt so heavy and overloaded. I was just crying and crying before God. My words spoken in tears and sobs. All of a sudden it was like God said, "get up." Not in an angry way but an empowering way...if that makes sense. I sat up and it was like I saw myself in the place of the woman caught in adultry that was brought before Jesus. The crowd, stones in hand set to stone her. Jesus calmly and matter of factly said, "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." Slowly, one by one the people left. Once everyone was gone, I pictured Jesus Freedom foreverlift up my chin so I would look him in the eyes. Crouched on the ground seeing His eyes intent on mine. Looking into my soul. Just like He did with the woman that day, He said, "who condemns you?" Looking around I reply, "No one Sir." In that instant...I felt all the weight of condemnation lifted. It was like I had an hour long deep tissue massage. Every fiber of my  being, relaxed and stress free. I realized later after worship and after the service...reflecting on what happened in that moment. Those people standing and surrounding me so quick to condemn and judge...were different versions of ME. How often I have shot myself down, I have stoned myself for a mis-spoken word, a harsh tone, a forgotten task, a wrong thought...I have been stoning myself for years and as God clearly told me to get up - it was giving me my life back. It was His GRACE UPON GRACE. His mercy. His true love. He doesn't keep record of wrongs...and neither should I. NO LONGER DO I. This morning, as life went on as usual...I reacted in ways I am tyring to change (short with my daughter when she cries about everything she wears - meltown after meltdown this morning and my shortness with her, attitude from tired children, etc) but the major difference was this. No one condemns me...not even myself. I made a mistake, asked for forgivenenss and moved on. The first instance my flesh tried to condemn me I heard the words "no one Sir." Loud and clear and it reminded me of the freedom that I was given. Once and for all. I will never go back. Once that transaction was finished Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." Can you image the freedom, the joy, the apreciation she felt with that moment? I can...because I do.

You may have to click on the picture to better see but I found the moment in worship where this exchange happened. Today I stand free from years of mental torment. As I think about this moment it still brings tears to my eyes because every moment since then has been a blessing. Please know that it doesn't mean that I am perfect or care free. I still have some struggles that God is working on in me. Holy Spirit is still pruning and I've got a lot of work to do. However, I am no longer hopeless.

I've gone a little long this time so let me wrap up with this:

I have been blessed to be a blessing. So today, I bless you with joy unspeakable; freedom from weight (even YEARS worth) of torment - mental, emotional, spiritual, physical; victory beyond belief; confidence in your Daddy; hope to weather the storm; faith, life, salvation for your spouse and loved ones; light in the darkness; advancement in the Kingdom where you feel backslidden; fire shut up in your bones; fight and fierceness; and love beyond compare.

Below is the song that brought me to the feet of Jesus and ushered me into freedom.

See you in the comments. I would love to pray over you for your own deliverance.

Do You Want The Evidence Or The Truth?

Hey SUM Family,

Tiffany here:

ev·i·dence -

a : an outward sign : indication

b : something that furnishes proof : testimony; specifically : something legally submitted to a tribunal to ascertain the truth of a matter
(Merriam-Webster online dictionary)

Last post (This Is Just The Pits!) we began to take a look at the life of Joseph. We discovered that there are ten tests we must face in order to fulfill our God-given purpose (I highly suggest you read From Dream to Destiny by Robert Morris for more on this topic). I want us to really dive into the deep end of the pool as we learn more about the pit test.

First, let's continue on in the story of Joseph. At this point he was ambushed by his brothers and thrown into the pit. Changing scenes, we see what happens with his family next:

So [Joseph's brothers] took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in blood. Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, "We  have found this. Do you know whether it is your son's tunic or not?" And he recognized it and said, "It is my son's tunic. A wild beast has devoured him. Without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces" (Genesis 37:31-33).

F.E.A.RJoseph's brothers did not flat out lie and say that Joseph was killed. Jacob came to that conclusion because of their leading question, "Do you know whether it is your son's tunic or not?" This is what we would call fabricated (false) evidence.   Remember evidence is an indication or something that furnishes proof. This evidence in Jacob's mind was proof that his favorite son was dead - to him it was the truth.

For over 20 years, imagine Jacob as he says in v. 35, "For I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning." Imagine a father so heartbroken that he was not able to be consoled. I don't know for certain but I can imagine countless nights of crying himself to sleep, restlessness, no appetite, deep depression...unable to move on. Not only that but his other sons could have easily freed him from all of it...over 20 years of seeing and living with their father. What callous and prideful hearts!

What about you? What fabricated evidence has been stacked up against you? Your marriage? Your parenting? Your identity in Christ? What lies of the pit have kept you trapped for far too long?

We live in a sin-hardened world, and we will be tempted by fabricated evidence just as Jacob was. And like Jacob, we will suffer unnecessary grief if we allow the lies of the pit to determine what we believe.

This is very important. If you want to get out of the pit, you must learn to discern the lies of the enemy. Because when you are in the pit, you are especially vulnerable. When you are in the pit, circumstances usually don't look very favorable - and that is exactly when Satan will manipulate those circumstances in order  to deceive you. He will hold up those circumstances before you as evidence that you should believe him rather than have faith in God. But fabricated evidence is not the truth. Joseph's brothers held up a bloody coat as evidence, and that evidence looked pretty convincing. But it was fabricated evidence. It was not the truth. If you want to overcome the lies of the pit, you must learn to focus on what God has said. When you are in the pit, you must remember that nothing is too hard for God, no matter what evidence the enemy might produce...

Yet even worse than his fabricated evidence is Satan's biggest lie: "You've messed up too badly. It's too late for you. You've messed up too badly to ever fulfill God's destiny for your life." Do you realize that the Bible is a book entirely about restoration? The Bible is filled with stories of people who messed up so badly that it seemed even God couldn't do anything about it - and yet He restored every one of them. He wants you to know that nothing is impossible for Him. As long as you have breath, it is never too late to call out to God. It doesn't matter what pit you are in. If you call out to God, He can fix it. And that is the real purpose of the pit. (pp. 38-39, From Dream to Destiny, Robert Morris)

Next time I want to finish up with the hope we have - the light at the end of the tunnel - in times of experiencing the pit test. But for now, let's meet in the comments. Let me speak truth into you and pray with you as we debunk the lies of the pit. Lean into this reality that fabricated evidence, no matter how convincing or real it appears, is NOT the truth. I promise you that this assurance will transform your life and catapult you out of the pit.

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

-- Colossians 2:13-15 (NLT)

The Orphan Spirit and Identity Crisis

Hey there SUM family, Tiffany here!

In the first post on this new writing journey for the SUM community I talked about the feeling of being a throw-away kid. This operated in my life in many ways. I was plagued by thoughts such as -

I will never be able to do enough.  Pete Scazzero

I am not good enough.

I am just trying to get your attention.

I cannot measure up to your standards.

What more do you want/expect from me?

I can't handle these demands.

I don't deserve it / you.

I honestly haven't realized – until last week during a healing prayer session with Lynn - that these thoughts that have plagued me for years are not only from the enemy but HAVE A NAME. The Orphan Spirit operates in such feelings as abandonment, loneliness, alienation, and rejection. Ouch! Looking back on my life, this has been the major theme! I am so used to a life like this that it almost seems unnatural to operate in freedom from this. (Isn't that truly the enemy's tactic..to turn things upside down and make it seem like “normal?”) The more I look into this topic, the freer I feel. It is almost as if the scales are falling from my eyes! I am not an expert by any means but I intend on digging deeper...I see this as a chapter in Vicarious to Victorious as the Lord leads me to write this book.

Or · phan: a child deprived by death of one or usually both parents; one deprived of some protection or advantage.

I have to say that this journey of freedom has been hard. I have realized that I have to truly fight for victory and the more I gain momentum, the more I have to be on guard. I don't say this to scare anyone. The journey is long but the triumph is so much stronger than anything I have to endure. I read Romans 8 this morning in my quiet time. This is a familiar passage to me and probably for many of you. What really jumped out to me was verse 18,

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Wow, just wow. Today this familiar verse hit me like a ton of bricks. The sufferings that I am presently dealing with – the baggage and destructive mess left by the Orphan Spirit – has taken a toll on my life. My parenting. My marriage. My friendships. Everything!

I have been living with an identity crisis YEARS after trauma from father figures. The Orphan Spirit has left me deprived of protection and advantage. My identity for the longest time has been in productivity, performance, approval. These things have always been fleeting. Even if it seemed as though I was getting what I thought I wanted, said approval, I still couldn't accept it. If I could describe the labels that I allowed the Orphan Spirit to place on my life they would include such things as: worthless, unwanted, unworthy, unloved, ineffective, desperate, needy, clingy, an object not a person.

BUT God!

He has given me a new identity!

Let's look at Galatians 4:4-7:

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

This does not sound like the labels I had placed upon myself at all! Thank you God, You give us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:57)!

In digging deeper into God's word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to renew my mind and transform me (Romans 12:1-2) I am seeing more and more that I have the ability to see my TRUE identity. My identity isn't really in crisis at all. In fact God is using the trauma of my past to help me look forward with more confidence than before. I am not who I once was. Instead of those old labels I can rest assured that my identity looks more like: victory, confidence, powerful, effective, fierce, redeemed, helpful, compassionate, empathetic, gracious, artistic and creative, unique, valuable.

Joseph Mattera wrote for Charisma News, “The only way to break this orphan spirit is for people to be filled with a sense of the Father's love for them in Christ, which then enables them to become mature sons who serve God out of knowledge of His undeserved grace instead of trying to earn the Father's love through performance.” (You can read through the entire article by clicking HERE)

I want to close this with a chance to meditate on the newer song from Passion feat. Kristian Stanfill and Melodie Malone – God You're So Good.

As you listen focus on these words:

I am blessed

I am called

I am healed

I am whole

I am saved in Jesus’ name

Highly favored

anointed

Filled with Your power

For the glory of Jesus’ name

And should this life

Bring suffering

Lord, I will remember

What Calvary

has bought for me

Both now and forever

To be continued...

I'll see you in the comments dear ones!

In His Marvelous Grace,

Tiffany

Emotional Healing For Marriage

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.com

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” —Mark 5:34 (NIV)

Let’s conclude this portion of our Emotional Healing study with a prayer for marriage. Several months ago, I was on the prayer team as we walked a woman through emotional healing from infidelity in her marriage. As I listened to our team leader gently lead this woman through an amazing healing prayer, I scribbled down the prayer and knew it was from the Holy Spirit.

SUMites, marriage is challenging in different seasons. I consider how damaged I was when I went into my marriage 25 years ago. Two immature, naïve, and broken people throw their lives together, add in children and then try to unwind our differences, our past and move into a future together. It’s hard. And it’s glorious at the same time.

How I wish I knew back then what I know now about my faith, myself and how to become free. But I’m learning and I’m compelled by God to share. That has been my direction and destiny since 2006 when this blog was born.

So today, I’m sharing a simple prayer for marriage. I’m going to speak it as if I’m praying it about my husband. Adapt for your marriage. Allow the Holy Spirit, Jesus and our Father, heal you and set your marriage on a path to GLORY!!!

Go into your quiet time with a journal, ask the Lord to bring His glory. For Jesus and the Holy Spirit to come just like I shared with you in my last post. Then pray something like this:

Jesus, I forgive my husband (wife). I forgive him because at times, he has made it unsafe to love him. (This is where you would tell the Lord about hurts or sins where you were made to feel unsafe or hurt.)

Jesus, I surrender the old muddy lenses I’ve used to see my husband. (Visualize yourself handing them over.)

Give me new lenses to see my husband exactly as You see him.

Lord, what is the truth about my husband? (Pause and listen then let the Holy Spirit speak into your heart. Write down what you hear. Linger here and let the Lord impress upon you the words about your spouse.)

Jesus, my husband is worthy of love. He is worthy of respect. (Listen and allow these statements to take root in your heart.)

Jesus, what is your favorite thing about my husband? (Listen)

Jesus, what do you want to do through my husband?

Jesus, what do you want me to do regarding my husband?

Jesus, show me how you are protecting me as I love my husband.

Jesus, is there anything You want me to know about my husband and our marriage?

Move through these questions in prayer and allow the Lord to show you facets of your life, marriage, and spouse you may not know or understand.

Recently, I experienced a revelation about my husband. It was life-changing and I will be writing about that in the next series, A Revelation of Love.

I love you SUMites. Someone, I hope many someones, in our community found their way to healing. The emotional healing prayer has become a regular “go-to” for me in recent months. I will pray this when I feel a hurt, a rejection, a wounding from a misplaced word from friends, family or my spouse. It’s a powerful tool to remain sanctified and in the Presence of God.

I love you SUMites. Pray with expectation because our prayers are accelerated in this season. Hugs. Lynn

Emotional Healing Prayer

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
—Psalm 34:4

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comToday, let’s look at the fairly simple prayer for emotional healing. I have prayed this sequence of sentences often in the last several months. I have found that after praying, I experience relief when I recall the memory (wound).

Go into an uninterrupted place, a quiet time of prayer.

Relax! (This is a good thing) Smile.

Pray something like this and simply engage your faith (pray aloud if you can): Jesus, I ask you to be with me and walk with me through my healing. Sometimes I speak this sentence a few times and I wait as I sense the change in my heart or the room.

Father, bring Your glory. Rest Your glory upon me and in this room. Again, I may pray this aloud for a few times and allow the Lord to rest upon me.

Holy Spirit, I ask You to lead me into all truth. I give you permission to help me recall what needs healing and to protect me from any lies of the enemy during this time. Holy Spirit I trust you to bring me through my healing in peace and without fear. Heal me completely, wholly, and forever from the wounding we uncover. In Jesus name.

Prayer:

Remember a painful event in your life. After inviting the Trinity in, usually the first one that comes to mind is where the Holy Spirit wants to start to work. It is often the strongest negative emotion.

Identify the emotion you feel. (shame, grief, regret, betrayal, fear, etc.)

If this memory is a result of sin, simply confess it and ask for forgiveness. Tell Jesus you receive His forgiveness. If there is not personal sin attached to this memory, move on.

Jesus, take this emotion ___________ (name it) from me.
Jesus, I ask you to heal this wound in my soul. I believe the blood of Jesus heals this wound.

Jesus, I receive your healing. (I love this part. Linger here for a moment and just perceive what Jesus is doing. Remember how we saw Jesus standing in front of us in our prayer time. This often happens and you will sense His love, His hope for you, His healing, His joy.

Remember the event again and if there are other emotions or this one still lingers, repeat the prayer process, and ask Jesus to reveal any lies you may be believing about this event and then to reveal the truth. You want to recall the emotion without anger, pain, shame grief, pain, etc.

When you are in a place of peace, pray:

Jesus, what do You want to give me in replace of that painful emotion? (Listen. It’s also awesome to journal through this and write down what Jesus impresses upon you.)

Now, you can pray to forgive the person who created this wound. It becomes much easier to forgive from the heart when you have worked through the emotional wounding.

I offer this prayer as a testimony of what I have worked through with Jesus and what I have witnessed in the Freedom Prayer Sessions. Always, ALWAYS, remember you can’t conform Christ to a formula. It’s always about relationship. Earnest prayers from a heart that is surrendered to Him is where we need to pray from.

My friends, over the next few days, work through this. Please, PLEASE, come back and share what you have received in your prayer time. If you have a victory, SHARE IT. Testimony is how the power in the Holy Spirit is passed from one believer to another. (And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. —Revelation 12:11)

If you are still struggling, tell us. We can and will pray. Press in and pray in your quiet time. Sometimes you will be directed to pray this process over and over. The Holy spirit may direct you to a team of pray-ers for your healing. Listen to the Lord and allow Him to lead you into healing.

Jesus is desperate to heal His Bride. There is an explosion about to occur where many who are wounded and lost, will come to Him. They are going to need this healing. He is frantic to get His “Church” healed so we can bring His love and healing to others. So don’t delay. Do the hard work of healing and forgiveness because there is now a mandate upon your life to take Him and His healing to others.

Still to come: Healing prayer for marriage. Rescue back your destiny. Steps to maintain healing. The four spiritual weapons of healing. Healing assignment. Healing passages. The Blood of Jesus. Toxic shame. Anxiety, mental illness and the Church and I hope….. YOUR TESTIMONIES..(Email me or share in the comments.)

UPDATE: After writing this post, the Lord spoke to me in my quiet time on Monday, Lynn, it's time to move on. So, I'm going to wrap up this series. I may get a video together and share it next week. And I still want to share the healing prayer for marriage. But alas, I guess all the other topics will have to go into a book some day.

So starting in March.... I will be writing about what the Lord is teaching me right now....

A Revelation of Love..

I asked for a revelation of love and I can't wait to tell you what God showed me. And then we are going to press into this revelation together.

Hallelujah. I love you and so does Jesus. Hugs, Lynn

Emotional Healing And Severe Trauma

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
—Psalm 34:17-19

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comMy friends, on Friday I will outline the prayer for emotional healing. It is truly a simple prayer and can be whispered to our Father anytime throughout the day. I wonder, would it be helpful to you to have me record a video of myself working through this prayer as an example? Let me know in the comments?

But before we get there, I want to share a couple of things.

Praying through our past wounds is often painful during the prayer time. Bringing up a memory that needs healing means that we allow ourselves to go back into that memory. This may feel very scary to us, but allow the Holy Spirit to take you where you need to go. He will not leave you there nor forsake the healing that you are seeking.

However, I have a word of attention: If you have severe physical and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, or satanic ritual abuse in your past, it is likely that you need to pray through your healing prayers with one or two other believers. I have participated in praying for people with this kind of severe trauma and always I pray with the prayee and another person. We become a triple stranded cord of power, authority, and protection.

Seek out someone you trust at church who will invest in you. The prayer session for healing of severe abuse usually is about two hours long and multiple sessions might be a necessity.

My local church offers Freedom Prayer, Dineen works in the healing rooms where they pray for all kinds of healing. Seek out someone in your area that offers this kind of prayer.

And right now someone needs to read this. The enemy is whispering in your ear, this won’t work. It’s never going to work. It’s not worth the effort to find someone to pray with you. You won’t pray right. You are always going to walk in the pain of your memories.

THESE ARE LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL. AND I REBUKE THESE LIES THIS MOMENT. IN JESUS NAME!

Commit to doing the hard work of healing, forgiveness, releasing bitterness. Then receive the BEST PART of the healing prayer, lasting healing, freedom, peace, joy, righteousness, and LOVE.

Hallelujah!

Now hear me. Don’t allow the enemy to discourage you. On Friday, we will take an emotional wound in your soul, we will pray through it, and I am convinced that Jesus will show up and help you through your healing. I’m so convinced that is why He has me writing about emotional healing on a marriage blog. HE WANTS TO HEAL HIS PEOPLE!!

Pray with me.

Jesus, I choose love over fear. I am assured that Your perfect love casts out fear. I am pressing into You for my healing. To be free of the wounds upon my soul. To be made perfect by Your cleansing blood. Jesus, I trust you and the Holy Spirit. I know You have my best interests at heart. You paid the heavy price to seal my healing and I will not let one drop You shed for me to go unclaimed.

Jesus, today, place in me a supernatural confidence and peace that surpasses all understanding. Empower me to read Your Words in Scripture and make come to life and power in every area of my body, heart, mind, will, soul, spirit, and emotions. I will choose life and freedom this day. I choose to be free and to bring freedom to others and lead them into their healing. I choose to bring freedom to myself and then my spouse and my children. I will walk in Your victories and I BELIEVE Your promises over my life are YES and AMEN!

Thank you, Jesus, that you saw my wounds and that you have declared, ‘IT IS FINISHED.” I receive your love, and healing and I will fully give You my heart and will work through my healing on Friday and throughout the days following. Touch me with Your supernatural hand of grace, mercy, healing, love and grant me full confidence in Your desire to make me whole.

In Your powerful name, by Your authority, love, and power, I pray this with an expectant and full heart, Jesus. AMEN!

Our Position in Christ

A dear friend was inspired by the Holy Spirit with this visual explanation of Christ in us, and it has spoken to my heart continually every since she shared with me, my friends. I pray it blesses you as much as it has me.

Here are some Scripture references too:

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; — 1 Cor 6:19

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. — 2 Cor. 1:22

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. — Col. 3:3

On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. — John 14:20

Have an amazing weekend secure in WHO AND WHERE YOU ARE!
Love you!

The Holy Spirit - Truth Heals Our Soul

Emotional Healing HopeMy SUMites brothers and sisters. I have been in intercessory prayer over you who were brave and vulnerable in the comments from Friday. God has heard your name and He has seen your need. He tells me He is ready to move in power and healing!!! Wow and Praise Jesus!!!!!

Let me say this, because you wrote down and brought into the light the wounding and the abuses that happened to you, you have already smashed the power of the demonic. The demonic world thrives in secrecy, shame, and buried crimes. But the minute you began to tell someone about your truth, the light comes rushing in like a flood. It is also, the moment your healing begins. So, SHOUT HALLELUJAH because your healing is at hand.

We stand upon holy ground. Remove your shoes, be brave and allow our beautiful Jesus to heal every wound, scare, hurt and failure. Jesus said, “It is finished!” And it is, so we shall move further into His completed work in our life, soul, heart, mind will and emotions.

Remember my post from Friday where I described a shame wounding. Our soul can be scarred by pain, fear, abandonment, injustice, rejection, and betrayal. What I didn’t explain is how that can affect us, even unknowingly, in our life today.

Recently, I heard a story about how a family would plan to go to the lake for their summer vacation. However, weeks leading up to their departure, the husband would begin to get cranky, uncooperative, negative which was in contrast to his normal peaceful demeanor. It seems after some prayer a memory was uncovered and healed regarding a traumatic event that occurred at a lake when he was a child. Unknowingly, that old memory caused a great deal of strife for several weeks every year in this family.

What I want to share today is that the Holy Spirit works with us in emotional healing. First, the Holy Spirit is our comforter. He will help us to walk through healing at a pace we can cope and comprehend. Secondly, Holy Spirit is our guide to all truth.

But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. —John 14:26 (KJV)

Second, many unhealed wounds are lost to our conscious mind. Our mind will simply forget about the pain in our past or our minds cover the memory over in order to protect us and remain functional, sometimes we place a wound away in our memory that we didn’t realize was a real wound, but it’s still there seeping.

The Holy Spirit, when asked will gently lead us to uncover areas of our soul that are wounded but we don’t remember. I’ve actually watched this process unfold before my very eyes. It’s beautiful, healing and safe. Oh, how great is the love of our God for His children.

Finally, I have a grasp on an area of healing that can move us out of the yo-yo of faith. And we are going to walk through that next week.

Don't grow weary in the waiting for the prayer, setting up the foundation and the understanding places you in a powerful position when you begin to pray for your emotional healing.

I love you so much, SUMites! You are Brave. You are stronger than you think. You are wise and you are the very essence of LOVE!  Jesus is so PROUD!!!

Demons Tap That

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comSUMites, go get a cup of coffee, strap in and hold on! We are going to get real!

At the beginning of this study, I asked a few questions.

Q: Do you wonder why you still struggle so much in your faith? Are there moments when you are filled with doubt? And yet you have prayed and prayed to remove all doubt. Do you fight continuing battles with anxiety and overwhelming fear? You experience triumph and then days later, fear overwhelms your mind again. Why does this happen?

Frankly, for years I was baffled as to why we still struggle so much with our vices, addictions, failures and doubts. Really. I mean, come on. After all, I live in an intimate relationship with God our Father, Jesus, and the Spirit. I have sat with the Word for years. It dwells within. I’ve learned to walk in spiritual gifts and I’ve walked the daunting road of forgiveness.

I’ve really worked hard in the classroom of sanctification. So, why, WHY am I still struggling with eating poorly. Why do I make huge progress with temptation and in a single day, completely implode and fall all the way back down. Why do I move from the mountains of faith to the valleys of despair and doubt?

I truly didn’t understand why this happened to me and so many other believers that I love.

Here is an overlooked, possible answer to those questions:

We struggle because we have an unhealed wound. A soul wound.

Let me describe what I think this looks like. When I was a teenager, my sister and I were in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner. Somehow, we managed to spill an almost full pot of spaghetti sauce onto the kitchen floor. It was like a bomb went off. Red sauce spun in every direction. Across the floor, all over the both of us, on the cabinets, the refrigerator. It was a disaster. It was loud.

In came my parents. Now Please, hear me, I love my parents and I honor them but I feel as though I need to give a real, living example. Please don’t judge them. They were broken and needful people. (Disclaimer finished.)

I can’t remember many of the details about this next few moments, but my father freaked out. There was a lot of yelling, possibly a few swats on the back of the legs but what left a soul wound, was when we were ordered upstairs, told to strip to our underwear, come back down and clean up the mess.

I was wounded by shame. A wounding in my soul occurred that day.

Why that was so hurtful, I can’t fully understand or explain. I just know I have held that wounding in my soul, my heart, for decades.

So, this is what I believe happens, current day. I’m moving along, really well, in my daily life, my faith is in a good place, I’m close to Jesus. The demonic world can see this and some insidious demon waits for just the right moment to tap that wound. One tap will set me back. I will experience shame all over again. This tap is strategic to derail my progress or to stir up hatred toward my father. The demon comes along and taps that wounded teenager, smack in the middle of the wound that can only be healed by Jesus. Current life events can trigger old woundings and many times we don’t even understand why we feel the way we are feeling.

When I consider just how sinister this tactic is, I surge with anger at the devil. I pray a million people will read this series so we can bring healing and freedom to them and stick it to satan.

What is interesting is that I have truly prayed through the hard work of authentic forgiveness of my parents. And by the way, we all need to forgive our parents, even if they were amazing. Children can be wounded by parents just because kids don’t always perceive things as intended. I can expand on that later.

Anyway, that unhealed soul-wound truly affected me. And even though I’ve prayed through forgiveness the demonic had permission to tap that wound and cause me pain because it bled slowly for years.

We all have wounds from years ago and we will be wounded by others in the future. I know for me, I’ve had to face wounding within my marriage. But, we are not going to stay wounded. We are going to walk through this process and be healed. Truly healed and we will know how to remain healed.

I also want to share that we can be healed emotionally through forgiveness and there are other avenues God uses to heal. Hallelujah. This series is intended to help us find healing for areas of our emotions that remain unhealed.

So, how are we doing SUMites. Are we on track? Are you staying with me? Do you have questions? What are your thoughts about childhood wounding? And if you can, share with me any specifics that you are think about that you would like me to cover that relate to this series. I know I will discuss, marriage and wounding, anxiety, mental illness and the church. So I have more. Stay tuned. And I wrote so much today that we will look at how the Holy Spirit heals on Tuesday. Love you. Lynn

Invite Jesus Into Your Healing

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comEstablishing the foundation of healing is crucial as we move along in our study. Of course, the Trinity works in us and through us in different capacities. We have looked at how God our Father is part of “who we are”, our identity. Understanding this truth releases us from rejection, fear, and lies we believe about receiving and our entitlement to healing.

Jesus, is our healer. By the shedding of his blood, when he was whipped (by His stripes we are healed – Isaiah 53:5) and by the spear that pierced His side, we have healing. I have so much more to share on the Blood Covenant. That will follow later.

What I want to bring to the forefront of our thinking and faith is that Jesus IS our healer. It is Jesus who heals. Through His name and by His blood.

The following passage (Luke 4:16-20 NKJV), Jesus is speaking:

So He (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

Because He has anointed Me

To preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth.

Oppression and LibertyMY FRIENDS, Jesus tells us specifically that He came to heal the brokenhearted (emotional healing) to proclaim liberty for the captives. Liberty in this context means to be released, to be freed from, the power (demonic) that binds us. He also came to give liberty to those who are oppressed. (Oppression is emotional, spiritual, and physical.)

It is His purpose to heal through His name and by HIS blood. And we are going to learn how to invite Jesus into our healing process.

I will be sharing the simple process of praying through the healing prayer in a few more posts. I still have a couple or more foundations to set up before we get there. But for today, I have an exercise for you. Invite Jesus into your prayer time for healing:

When I begin to pray about my own healing, I will enter into prayer and start by asking for the Glory of God to come into the room, I then ask for the Holy Spirit to come and bring all truth, and when I’ve waited a moment or two after asking, I then will ask Jesus to come and bring His love and healing.

This is what I want you to do in the next few days. I want you to practice. Go into your prayer time, close your eyes, then simply speak out loud, Father, bring your glory. Father, let your glory rest here. Holy Spirit, bring your Presence and rest here. Holy Spirit reveal all truth to me.

Then as you wait, finally, ask Jesus to come and stand before you. Engage your mind’s eye, your spirit, your heart, your imagination (mind) and imagine Jesus standing before you. See the love in His eyes that release His perfect peace into your heart. And finally, allow Him to reach out and take your hands.

Now, your experience may differ from mine. But this is how I see Jesus come to bring healing in my prayer time. This might be a new thing for you, to visualize Jesus. It was weird for me too the first few times. But every time Jesus arrives and reaches out His hands toward me, I melt within His arms of love. Just try it. Allow Him to love you.

On Friday, I will share with you how the Holy Spirit is part of your healing. It’s awesomeness!!!!!!

So give this a try. There isn’t a right or wrong way to ask Jesus into your healing/prayer time. This isn’t a formula. It’s relationship. Jesus wants a love relationship. Allow Him some freedom in your prayer time, I hope that like me, you are astounded by what happens when we release Jesus to move in our prayers and in our heart.

See you Friday. If anyone has already been praying in a similar way and can share, please do. Someone, probably me, will be encouraged to hear about how you welcomed Jesus into your prayer time and how is was experiential for you. Hugs, Lynn

Combating the Enemy Within

I’ve always been curious as to the stubbornness of my anxiety and sinful habits that nag away at me. I thought it a useful topic to discuss as we walk through this fabulous series on emotional healing.

I’ve mentioned my struggles with anxiety previously. Like many of us it’s been a regular companion for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent enough years of my life in counselors chairs that I figured it was something that would be with me all of my days. There was a self-defeatist sense of ‘oh well, it must just be part of what makes me, me.’ I know many others who struggle with it think similarly.

Some of you may be able to relate to this as you too have had anxiety as a companion or perhaps it’s some habitual ‘thing’ that just hangs around. You’ll have some days where it doesn’t make an appearance, others when it says ‘hi, don’t mind me, I’ll just sit over here,’ and other days when it just gets plain bossy and makes everything so much harder and, scarier, leaving you in despair.

“Help me, Jesus,” is a much-repeated cry on such days.

A Thorn or what?

We’re all familiar with Paul’s ‘thorn’ that he carried with him for most of his days. I know I’ve often resigned myself to thinking my anxiety is my ‘thorn’. But I’ve come to realise that’s a lie.

We talk a lot about the Devil and his role in continually badgering us. Remember John 10:10, he’s come to “steal, kill and destroy.” Yes, we’ve got a target on our backs and his aim is pretty good because he gets a lot of practice.

But it’s not just that enemy we have to contend with. There’s the “enemy within the camp.” Our flesh. I love this definition of the flesh I read recently which provided much insight:

“… the outlook orientated towards the self, that which pursues its own ends in self-sufficient independence from God.” (Anthony Thistleton)

There’s an internal battle going on inside us. Because of the rebellion that took place at the fall, there’s been an “enormous disruption in our human nature.”1 As Hewetson contends: “the body’s desires are entirely legitimate and simply doing what they were created to do. The evil lies in the fact that because of our failure to submit to God, these desires refuse to submit to us and rebel against their lowly position.”2

Hence, the longer we’ve lived with a particular habit or perception or way of thinking, the harder it is to dislodge it. And willpower won’t be sufficient to move it out altogether. We need supernatural help.

Abundant Living

Over the past year I believe I’ve made some significant headway regarding my anxiety. One of the key steps was to acknowledge (and keep reminding myself) that God doesn’t want me to live with anxiety. It’s not in His plan. For me. Or anyone.

“Jesus came that we may have life, and that we may have it abundantly.” This is the flip side of John 10:10.

We can have confidence that in walking with Jesus we are “moving away from lingering imperfections toward more and more holiness.”3 The more we keep our focus on Jesus and the things above (Colossians 3:2) the stronger our protective walls become forcing the enemy to gradually retreat.

Another key consideration was understanding that I am a son of God. As I mentioned in my comment to Lynn’s post last week I knew this in my mind but it’s only really in the past year or so when I believe it’s sunk into my heart.

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (Prov 4:23 NLT)

The heart. We can rely too much on our minds and what we are thinking but God looks at the heart. He wants us to love Him with all of our heart … trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your understanding.

Heart health

How do we get heart healthy in 2017? A few thoughts on what I’ve actively been doing these past 18 months or so that I believe have helped me get to where I am now.

1. Get moving

Not just exercise – do that. But actually be positive and take action. God uses us to implement His purposes for our lives. Think of all those great OT stories, eg, Abraham had to leave home, Noah had to build a boat, etc. My anxiety has many times stopped me from starting because “where should I go? what if it isn’t the right way? What if I do it wrong?” You get the gist.

Last year I moved forward by committing to an action that I’d put off for years. Why had I put it off? Pride and fear.

I’m so pleased now that I stepped out as it has definitely helped me. Stepping out does take courage and having someone close who can encourage you, move with you even, is a good way to help take that step.

The greatest counter measure to fear is to start something.

2. Get into the Word

You’re probably tired of me saying this but golly gosh, falling in love with the Word has changed my life. The Word is a lifeline, an instruction manual, a love story, a magnificent mystery, and a supernatural book. And it’s a person.

“… but be transformed by the renewing of your mind …” (Rom 12:2)

Getting the truth into our hearts truly is a strong weapon against those perceptions or deceptions that we’ve carried around with us for too long.

3. Guard your heart

We need to put a gate against all the negatives that can infect our hearts. Many of us struggle with such negatives in our marriages. The enemy uses offense to weaken Christians. Offense can bubble away inside us for years. Our pride will encourage it to convince us we are justified in feeling such and such. And then before we know it relationships are strained. Forgiveness is a powerful weapon against offense.

4. Community

Like many of us being actively involved in church happenings has been a challenge for me. But I also enjoyed being anonymous as it made it easy for me to stay uninvolved. Last year I was asked to increase my engagement in a couple of different groups. I’ve been so blessed by both and have seen my faith and love for Jesus grow as a result.

I was reminded only today of what Acts said about the first church:

“And they devoted themselves to the Apostles teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.” (Acts 2:42-43)

God loves community. He knows it’s good for us. I’ve been a laggard for too long and used my situation to stay in the shadows.

I’ve still got a long way to go. Anxiety pops its head up most days to remind me it’s only a few thoughts away from jumping back in. And yes, they’ve still been some tough days but I’m filled with far more hope and confidence than I was previously.

“Finding fulfillment in God is the most powerful antidote to any sin.” (Gary Thomas). Keep fixing your eyes on Jesus.

Grace and peace, dear friends. I do apologise for the too long a post. Thank you for persisting. May 2017 be a great year where we all experience release from the “stuff” that has vexed us.

Jesus Our Healer

Healing scriptures picI could likely write an entire book about how Jesus heals. I’ve been collecting scriptures over time and scribbling them down. Here is one page with several (see photo).

But I want to focus on just a few today.

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. —Matthew 14:14

Can you imagine this scene with me? Jesus just left a secluded place where He was praying to our Father. He comes from that intimate place and looks out over the vast crowd. The multitudes are broken, in pain, demonized, terrorized, hurting and sick. I love this scripture for so many reasons but I’m moved that He had compassion. He had compassion for the crowds. For the broken and those who were far from perfect. For the sick, not the strong. For the paralyzed and forsaken. For the demonized and those who live in fear and pain.

He had compassion.

He has compassion for us today. His compassion was vast. So much so that He became a man, died for us then rose again to bring us everlasting life. Pow!!!  Just truly take this truth in again and view it with freshness in your heart. His mission was salvation and the healing of our body, mind, and our soul. It was His heart to bring healing to the crowds.

Jesus still heals today. The same compassion moves Him to touch and heal! I will acknowledge that there are Bible believing churches who don’t believe in modern-day healing. I was once in that camp. That was until October 12, 2012 when I had an encounter with the love and power of our living God. Everything changed that day and every day since. I can’t debate theology. But I can bear testimony that is absolute truth, I have been healed in every way through the Trinity. My soul, my mind, my emotions, and my physical body (through a miraculous healing prayer). Dineen and many others can bear testimony to this statement.)

If you have been a reader here for long, you will know that I share openly my life with Jesus. I pray you know that I speak with truth and that you can bear witness to the reality of how my life has transformed in every area because of the healing power of Jesus. If your new and still not certain about all this healing stuff, what have you got to lose? Stay tuned and press into His love and seek healing.

… and He healed their sick!

I want to share the first of the four weapons of healing that I mentioned on Monday. Ready???

The name of Jesus.

There is power in the spoken name of Jesus.

Have you ever listened to the song, There Is Power In the Name of Jesus? The lyrics continue…. To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.

When you speak the name of Jesus you don't have to say anything else. Because when he comes, he brings with him everything you need.

In the name of Jesus, the deaf will hear (mark 7:33)

In the name of Jesus, the blind see (Mark 8:23)

In the name of Jesus arthritis must leave (Luke 13:12)

In the name of Jesus, devils are powerless (Luke 10:17)

In the name of Jesus, demons are casted out (Mark 16:17-18)

In the name of Jesus healing is available (Acts 3)

In the name of Jesus, salvation comes (Acts 4)

In the name of Jesus I have peace, joy, and goodness (romans 14:17)

In the name of Jesus, I have hope (Romans 5:27)

In the name of Jesus, we are baptized (Matthew 28:19)

In the name of Jesus, we are forgiven (1 John 1)

In the name of Jesus, we are justified (1 Cor 6:11)*

So here is my assignment this week: Speak the name of Jesus. Often. Bless yourself and others in the name of Jesus. Speak the name of Jesus when you are driving, doing the laundry, while giving the kids a bath. Bless your kids with joy while you are getting them dressed in the morning. Bless yourself with joy and hope. Bless your home with the presence of angels and the glory of God. Bless your husband to thrive at work. Bless him to be a man of integrity, one of honor, a great father. Bless him to learn to love you well. Speak these blessings aloud and in the name of Jesus.

Bless your mind and emotions with the healing of Jesus!

I’ve shared with you before about how I blessed my infected eye. After a week an old contact lens popped out on my finger. I’ve blessed away weird little bumps on my face. I’ve blessed myself into health. I’ve blessed myself with supernatural weight loss. I’ve blessed my car engine and more. Big blessings and small. All things covered by the name of Jesus can change and come under His authority.

Nearly every day, I bless my son, grandkids, and my daughter along with myself, my husband and our home. Why? BECAUSE THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS!!

Use His name in faith and watch things change as you are consistent. It’s one of our most powerful weapons to release the power and glory of God upon our world! Hallelujah!!!

At The Core Of Our Healing - Identity

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comWe are jumping right into our next segment of teaching on healing but before we do, I want to be very open and straight forth. I am not a professional counselor. I would not advocate to anyone to cease taking medication or to cease or not seek out medical or psychological help and treatment. God gave us doctors. They are awesome and I believe many miracles happen at the hands of physicians.

I am an ordinary believer like you. Yet, I have watched the Trinity move in prayer session to heal minds, spirits, bodies, and emotions. I BELIEVE in the healing power of Jesus Christ. I also have received healing myself. I know with complete certainty, it is God’s will to heal. So, throughout this series, consider the teaching I share. Pray about what I write and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit as you pray through your healing.

Okay, Public Service Announcement is complete *grin*

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. —Isaiah 54:4-5 (NKJV)

He carried away our sorrows…. And by His stripes we ARE healed.

This is our truth. This passage is only one of the many that are in the Word that promise healing. Healing of our sorrows (our emotional pain) and healing of our bodies. Healing is a gift of our salvation.

Many of us think salvation is a one-time event which happens the moment we believe in Jesus as our Savior. But how many of you know, that salvation is an active ongoing process that begins at our conversion? How cool is that?

Paul writes: work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; —Philippians 2:12. Did you consider that our salvation is work? To be worked out in fear (respect and honor – my translation). Our life is the ongoing process of perfecting our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

In all my years of ministry, I’ve discovered a few commonalities in the body of Christ. One, we are WAY too hard on ourselves. We expect perfection and holiness from our faith and feel like a failure when we don’t meet that expectation. I don’t think God expects perfection from our earthly life. He only wants our heart and our willingness to follow hard after Him.

Another area where I find believers struggle is in our identity.

We can read the Word and the promises within that we are a child of God, yet we don’t know what that truly means and the empowerment that comes with faith in that truth.

To receive healing of our body, spirit, mind, will and emotions, we need to grab hold of the truths that the Trinity bestow which leads to receiving and RETAINING our healing.

Beep!  Beep! The Road-Blocks To Healing

Can I ask you a question? Do you believe you are entitled to healing?

For many believers, we struggle with this question. (If you don’t struggle, hang with us because someone today REALLY needs to hear this. It will set them free.) Somewhere, a long time ago, life began to lie to us. Lies such as, I’m not worthy to be loved. I’m never good enough. I’m the one who is always left out. I’m never included. I’m never asked. I’m not loved. I’m never part of something really good. I’m a failure. I’m not entitled to think God would bless me with (healing, hope, provision, etc., etc.)

These are ALL lies from the pit of hell!

Yet, we believe them because of our life experiences and this is where the enemy holds us captive. But today, if you thought to yourself, Yes, I’ve thought this before. Well today I want you to repeat after me and say this aloud to your phone, your computer, or whatever you are reading this from, as if Jesus was before you.

I renounce the lie that I am unworthy. I renounce the lie that I’m not good enough or that I’m not loved or entitled to healing. Today, I choose to believe the truth about myself. I AM A CHILD OF GOD. I was created to be healed and whole, body, mind spirit. I have a fantastic destiny and I was made to fulfill a tremendous assignment given to me by my Father who loves me with His whole heart. Today I will not believe any lie about who I am. I embrace the truth that I am powerful, I will receive healing. I will bring healing to others in Jesus name. I will bring love and life to myself, my family, my church and this world. I will walk in the promises of the Word and stand on them with authority through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today, I declare I will work out my salvation to obtain every promise that is mine and available to me as a believer in Jesus Christ. Today is my freedom day and I am NOW on the path toward healing. In the powerful name of Jesus. AMEN

I speak this prayer along with you before the Great Cloud of Witnesses….. AMEN!   And Hallelujah. Print this out and say it every day until it is absolute truth to your soul.

God our Father is a lavish God who only wants the best for His kids. Really! His power and angels are given to us to obtain His promises and healing is one of them.

We praise you Papa, God, for your lavish love, the healing that is ours as your kids. We honor you with our faith and are so thankful for the supernatural love and power you give to bring us fully into our calling, destiny, joy and peace, into the abundant life (John 10:10). We adore you. AMEN

On Tuesday, we will look at how Jesus is part of the healing process. Today, it’s time to fully believe that God wants your healing and it is NOW!

Understanding the Trinity in our healing journey sets us upon a solid foundation everything else that is to follow in this series. Stay tuned because this journey is going to stretch you but it will also liberate you. And after you have walked through it you will be trained and empowered to help your friends find their healing. That’s just how the kingdom rolls!!!!!!!

In the comments, I want you to type out your agreement that God is your Father. Making this permanent and written statement makes the demonic shudder with utter horror because you have stepped over the line and they know it.  Wow and Wow!  See you in the comments.

The Heart of God

GodsLove
Good morning, SUMites! I loved reading your prayers yesterday on Lynn’s post. I prayed in agreement with each one of you and prayed over our community for complete healing. Many of the things you prayed mirrored my own prayers too, my dear friends. I’m so glad we are taking this journey of healing together.

And that’s part of what I feel the Holy Spirit planted in my heart to share today, that some of you out there have been on a very lonely journey in your pain. You have felt alone, as if you’re the only one, in this struggle and even abandoned at times.

Today the Lord wants you to know that is not true. You are not alone, you have never been alone. And as you walk this path of healing, you will see others walking along side you who have suffered in the same way, you will walk in a new hope and strength like never before, and you will finally reach your breakthrough.

My first breakthrough (yes, I am believing for many more!) happened last week with the help of dear friends who prayed with me, loved me and contended with me. And that is what I feel the Lord is doing in our SUM family as well—uniting us even in this time of healing to uphold one another and rejoice for each other as our breakthroughs come. This is not a journey we are intended to walk alone.

My friends, today I asked the Lord to reveal His heart for our SUM family. He showed me Jesus. He said Jesus is the full representation of His heart for us. Even unto death…

Wow, that just continues to blow my mind and bring home even more the magnitude of God’s love for us. Jesus is not only our Savior, He is our Healer. In the Bible, the Greek words for salvation (sōtēria) and saved (sozo) encompasses more than just our eternal residence but our health and wholeness as well.

Here’s another nugget God showed me recently in Romans 8.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. — Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)

Did you notice that Paul only says present and future? No mention of the past? That’s because Jesus dealt with the past on the cross. He even said, “It is done.”

And we know what happens with today? It becomes the past, so whatever heartache or challenge we face today, tomorrow it will be the past and Jesus declares it done! And as tomorrow becomes today, we can say the same about it as it passes into yesterday. It is done!

Jesus is the heart of God. So whatever healing we are in need of, my friends, know that the Heart of God, Jesus, says it is done. He has already set our healing in place. It’s one of His promises to us. And He’s inviting us to walk in this truth.

I’m believing this is my year to be healed of emotional eating. Whatever is at the root of this issue will be revealed and healed. This is my need and the mountain I refuse to keep circling. I believe Jesus will move it and say, “It is done!” In the name of Jesus, amen!

Love you, my friends! Contending with you.

Emotional Healing - Find Healing and How To Help Others

Emotional Healing For BlogCan I just shout: WE ARE LIVING IN THE BEST TIME OF HISTORY IN THE WORLD!

I’m convinced that God is on the move with accelerated purpose, greater than what the church has witnessed in the past.

I’m convinced that we, the Church, are in a critical and unique place in the plans of God. I believe that God is about to bring a release so profound that millions of people that we would never expect, will turn their lives over to Jesus. They will be coming into the Kingdom in droves out of drug abuse, sexual perversion, antagonistic atheism, and many places and lifestyles. They are going to miraculously find Jesus.

And they are going to need healing.

They will need a church, God’s people, to help them move forward out of their addictions, the pain of torture and every kind of abuse as well as demonic oppression. They will NEED US! They will need a holy and healthy church. A church of ordinary people who can lead them toward complete healing of their heart (soul), mind, body, will and emotions.

My friends, this is our next calling. And as SUMites we have a unique place in this. Because we live in a spiritually mismatched marriage and thus, most of us know what it feels like to not fit in the “church.” We understand how to thrive on the fringe of church life. And after many years living as a married-single at church, our experience has prepared us to help others who come to church to find acceptance.  God has uniquely prepared us with the knowledge and heart to help them to fit in and be healed.

BUT, we can’t help them if we aren’t healed ourselves!

Thus, I’m convinced the Holy Spirit has filled my heart with so much knowledge in the last year about healing that I’m to share with our community. You know, ever since I started writing ten years ago, the Lord said to me, “Lynn, just share what you are learning. Share from your heart what I am teaching you. Because what you are learning is what others need as well.” So truly, most of what I’ve written is an account of my love relationship with our Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

So, it may appear to be a weird thing to teach about emotional healing on a marriage blog. But, the more I spend time with Jesus the GREATER the urgency rises in my heart to share what I’ve learned.

Let me ask you something.

Do you wonder why you still struggle so much in your faith? Are there moments when you are filled with doubt? And yet you have prayed and prayed to remove all doubt. Do you fight continuing battles with anxiety and overwhelming fear? You experience triumph and then days later, fear overwhelms your mind again. Why does this happen?

Do you still battle against anger even rage? Why do you fight against addictions, apathy, resentment, your weight, shame, guilt and pain? Real pain?

I ask this because I know so many believers truly press into their relationship with Christ. Like me they read the Word. They have worked through a great amount of forgiveness and have done the hard work of learning obedience to obtain God’s best for our lives.

YET, we still struggle in areas and the enemy gains a grip in our life and brings destruction. Why does this still happen to me?  We can’t quite figure it out.

Well after some great research and real practice I’ve come to discover that some of our struggle is related to unhealed emotional pain. And emotional pain can wreak havoc in our life and the lives of those we love. Emotional pain can be hidden in our soul from years ago or a new wound can open up at any time. A relationship can be riddled with unhealed emotional pain. And that is why we are going to walk through how Jesus heals emotional pain.

Through this series, we will endeavor to understand how emotional pain can cause setbacks and how to become free. And I mean FREE!

We will look at:

  • Healing simple emotional pain.
  • How God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit work to bring healing to emotional pain. (scripture support)
  • Toxic shame.
  • How to heal an emotional event from your past.
  • Emotional healing for marriage.
  • The prayer for emotional healing.
  • Ongoing healing (day-to-day healing).
  • Repentance is healing (You and your family).
  • The Four Weapons you have for healing.
  • Physical healing.
  • Radical obedience leads to increases in the Kingdom.
  • Emotional Healing assignments
  • Sharing our healing and helping others.

Okay, these are just a few of the topics that are weighty upon my mind. There are more and they are awesome.

We will get started on Friday with outlining how the Trinity works within us for our healing. Today, I want you to go into your prayer time and ask the Lord if you have some wounds that need healing.

In the comments, take a brave step. Write a simple prayer to our Father that you will walk willingly and honestly through this season with Him, seeking His hand, his love and His healing. Pray in Jesus name. I will pray with you.

Are you ready to be touched by the supernatural hand of God?

Great days are ahead for you, healed and whole, in Jesus name.

I love you! Lynn

"Watch What I Do!"

IStock_000005733150MediumWhat has God promised you, my friends? That is the place I want to start today, because I’ve discovered there is a very definitive process that occurs between the promise given and the reality (or manifestation) of that promise. And it’s in the in between time that we can get confused or even lose sight of our promise.

No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said. — Psalm 89:34 (NLT)

I believe as a community we are on this journey right now together. As I shared last week during our prayer and fasting, this is a Year of Promises. As I walk in this place of waiting and the challenges I’ve faced, I’m finding that God’s promises are designed to bring us from one point and place in time to another and it’s very much to do with our growth as believers.

We’ve talked in the past about preparation and that is part of this promise package. God always sees us according to His plan for us—who He created us to be. He sees us from our future and therefore partners with us to direct our path accordingly. Our promises are part of that future becoming our present reality. So, in everything, God is working for our good to according to that picture.

Yes, we do have an enemy that will do whatever he can to hinder and delay that path, but ultimately, as we continue to seek God and say yes to Him, we are assured of victory, as God’s Word says. He already sees us as victorious, therefore we are. That’s an important place to walk in faith and perseverance (Romans 8).

As God cheers us on He also works in us so that we can walk in the fullness of our callings (destiny) and many times that means we need healing. We live in the reality of good verses evil and the imperfections of this world, so it is inevitable.

This past week God worked this in my life in a stunning way. As I mentioned God revealed some things to me, of which one part was a deep need for emotional healing. I find it so very interesting that as Lynn is about to begin this series on emotional healing, God walks me through that very thing.

So, my dear SUMites, I want to encourage you to walk this journey with us, because it is part of the revelation of your promises this year. To fully receive what these promises are we often must grow in some way to be able to walk in them. This is part of God’s upgrade or promotion process. He wants us to benefit fully from His promises.

Think of it in a way as professional training or learning a skill. In order to function as a lawyer in a court or as a teacher in a classroom, we have to learn things in order to fully function in those places. Our “training” or teaching can be very specialized too.

I believe that God is doing much of this in us for many reasons. For me, this means I am more emotionally healthy for two reasons. One, to walk in the broader places He is taking me in ministry and to be ready for where He is taking my husband to one day be in ministry together. Yes, He has to get me ready (prepared) for what that means. Oh boy…

And sometimes it can seem messy and painful, but as we’ve used the analogy before, a wound must be cleaned for it to heal well and without infection. Think of the lies, hurts, rejections and grudges we carry as infections, that once dealt with, our emotional wounds can be healed.

The wonderful thing about this process is that it ripples out. So often we want to fix what we see on the outside, but God works from the inside out and that is what those around us begin to see as we are healed. Those places we often struggle with externally could very well be the reflection of something inside in need of healing. This applies to our spouses too, my friends. We have the benefit of the Great Physician at work in us to help us heal, yet those who don’t know Jesus yet can only rely on their own resources or that which the world offers.

My friends, whatever God did in me this week broke and released things I have carried for years. I feel lighter, stronger, and more peaceful. And I am excited to walk in this new freedom and am expectant of the ways it will show up more in my life. I’m excited to see what God does next, and I am looking forward to what He does in all of us through Lynn’s series.

It’s going to be good. How do I know that? God told me. Since last weekend, His still soft voice has whispered over and over to me these words.

“Watch what I do.”

And He has expanded those words for our community. This is what I feel I hear Him saying for us:

Watch what I do.

In your homes and in your marriages,

Watch what I do.

In your lives and in your government,

Watch what I do.

In your nation and in your communities,

Watch what I do.

In your minds and in your hearts,

Watch what I do.

SUMites, the choice is always ours. God loves us no matter what. He is always for us and always, always, always, working for our good. So if you feel this is something you want, then I encourage you to pray something like this in your own words:

Lord, I want everything You have written on the pages of my book in heaven to become a reality in my life. I want to let go of the pain and hurts and be healed of the emotional traumas in my heart and soul. Whatever that takes and whatever that looks like, Lord, I say yes. I am ready. I trust You. I love you and I am so grateful that You love me with such a relentless and perfect love. Lord, I am watching to see what You do! In the name of Jesus, amen!

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. — 2 Cor. 1:20 (NLT)

I love you, my SUM family. I’m so blessed to walk this journey with you and stand with you in prayer.

Defending Our Mind

21139604_sSUMites, we’ve just come out of our week of prayer & fasting. I must say I am blown away at how powerful this year’s fast seemed to be in our community. Abba is really taking us to new levels and places this year, my friends.

Don’t be surprised if things continue to be revealed, shift and unfold over the next several weeks. We’ve set the stage for 2017 in a powerful way and God does not disappoint.

Over the week, God revealed some truths in Scripture and connected some dots for me. One I’d like to share with you today, because it’s a new prayer strategy for me. And in light of some of the things God showed me this week and Lynn’s upcoming series on emotional healing, I believe it is timely.

We’ve studied this verse before. In fact, Lynn has a video about it over there in the sidebar.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. — 2 Cor. 10:5

Standing on the truth of 1 Cor. 7:14 (chapter eight in our prayer book) and combining it with Jer. 24:7, this is how the Holy Spirit led me to pray it for my husband (and children):

Lord Jesus, I stand before you in my authority as the believing wife who sanctifies her husband through her faith and repent for Mike for his unbelief, doubt and choice of atheism. And in my authority I demolish these arguments of unbelief, doubt and atheism that have set themselves up against the knowledge of God and I take captive every thought bombarding or residing in him that perpetuates or agrees with these lies and make them obedient to the truth of Jesus Christ. And I declare he is a holy man of God, has received a heart that knows God, is now therefore a son of God and will return to God wholeheartedly. In the saving name of Jesus, amen!

For me:

In the name of Jesus Christ, I destroy every argument and every pretension raised against the knowledge of God that resides in my heart, my mind and/or in my life in any way and declare them gone and done. Demolished! And I take captive every thought, doubt, or insecurity and make it obedient to the truth of Jesus. I am a child of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, welcomed before the throne of grace and anointed by God to proclaim and speak truth. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!

Anytime we remove an untruth (lie), it is important to replace it with truth. And based upon what I experienced last week and am sensing the Holy Spirit saying now, God has set something into motion and that which He has placed in us during our time of prayer and fasting will become powerful tools over the weeks and months ahead. Thus we must defend and protect those truths and not allow the enemy to take them away (make us forget) or muddle the truths with his lies (confusion, doubting if you truly heard God, etc.).

On Friday I will share a bit more of what God revealed to me over the week as He connects more of the dots for me. And boy, do I need a lot more dots connected. LOL!

Love you, SUMites! Share in the comments whatever the Holy Spirit lays on your heart.

2017 FAST & Emotional Healing

Healing Prayer
Hello SUMite Nation,

Wow, I have missed all of you!

I feel like I could burst because I’m keeping inside all of this amazing stuff that has happened in the past several weeks. A-MAZ-ING stuff that I can’t wait to share with you…. I can’t wait to start teaching about emotional healing. (And other surprises.)

I PROMISE YOU THIS, you WILL experience freedom and healing if you work through the series of posts that we will tackle beginning January 23rd.

Before we get to that we need to focus on our prayer life for 2017. Our emotional healing happens through prayer, so I find it perfect timing that we will focus on prayer during our annual fast week. We will fast as a community the week of January 9th through January 13th. Dineen will be providing some links to how to fast, January 6th.

Every year I’m fascinated at the large number of us who fast together and something significant from the Lord always comes out of our focused time of prayer and fasting. So plan now to fast with us. Let your family know so you can set expectations with them. My practice is a daytime fast with a light and healthy meal after sunset with my family. But I may attempt a complete five day fast with a hamburger on Friday night. *grin*

Winning Them With Prayer
Winning Them With Prayer

This year we are going to fast and use the prayer strategies book along with it. So much of my spiritual growth in my life in 2016 was the result of new prayer strategies that I used in my prayer time. This book has POWERFUL prayers written by SUMites. I tell you that I have prayed through them and would literally begin to shake under the power of the Holy Spirit.

These prayers can move mountains, save the lost, heal the sick and deliver us from the bondage of satan.

I will share more about how we will use the book on Friday. There is a place to write in it and these books will become a record of our prayers that we will look at to see how God moved at the end of 2017. And I promise you, HE WILL MOVE!

You can order your copy here (SUM Shop). Order it early because shipping will take at least a week.

This Fast will prepare you for the Emotional Healing Series that follows: Jesus Heal My Soul!!!!!

SUMites, do you want real freedom? Freedom from memories that sting? Freedom from trauma and hurts? Do you want to be healed from wounds to your heart? AND DO YOU WANT PHYSICAL HEALING?

I’m convinced that this is my assignment in 2017. I’m compelled and commissioned to teach the SUMite Nation these amazing prayer strategies that will truly change the course of a life and launch us into our destinies, divine assignments, ministry, freedom, healing and more.

WHAT SAY YOU?  Are you in?

Tell me in the comments what is on your heart at this very moment? It’s likely the Holy Spirit speaking. I want to hear and share your hopes for 2017. Then order your book so I can get it in the mail to you.

I LOVE you so much. Our Jesus is so near and He is telling me that it is NOW that the church is to receive EVERYTHING He died to give us. Don’t leave anything on the table that Jesus wants for your life.

Hallelujah and AMEN. See you in the comments. LOVE YOU SO MUCH, Lynn
