It is easy to become cynical about the condition of our world. Daily, the news bombards us with the ugliest of human kind. People disappoint us. Loyalty is evasive. Our efforts sometimes go unrecognized and even criticized.
But….. In the midst of a world of cynicism, sarcasm and self-centeredness there are people who are committed to Christ. I know specifically several who in the last two weeks have impacted the heavenlies with their compassion. They stand for Christ and offer love to a world who doubts. They give freely of their time and money to share the love of Christ with the broken, the suffering, and the dying. They are the people who change the world.
So today I am thankful for every single Christ follower who stands up and does what is right. I am thankful for those who offer love to a world which can’t comprehend it. That may never return it.
Women like Linda and Darlene. They brought love and new bed sheets to Rose who could not repay them. Read Rose’s story here.
Diane, who has faithfully prayed for her prodigal child for ten years. Her son is now standing at the cross roads of life. Her faithful prayers have impacted his life. Read Diane’s story here.
Michael and Jenny Lee, personal friends. They lost their second daughter on Friday to Cystic Fibrosis. In the midst of their grief they where compelled to pray with others in the intensive care unit. God’s grace and mercy was beaming in every corridor of the hospital.
Then there is my own mother, who yesterday, rushed to the side of my brother who is nearing the end. Denying her personal grief, she went to comfort his wife and three children to be strong for them.
I could list twenty seven more….. I wish I could tell you about each one. Why do they do it?
We know. It is Jesus! Selfless giving must appear mysterious to our cynical world. The love of Christ shines forth through the lives of His servants with such brilliance that darkness flees screaming in defeat. Cynicism retreats, skepticism and distrust takes flight. Hope flies in the face of every evil force bent on destruction.
Thank you each and every one of you who light the way. Thank you for your tireless efforts and your heart for sharing Jesus.
Be Blessed, Lynn
