Prayer And Fasting - Day One

image from www.spirituallyunequalmarriage.comFast Day One:

My friends, a corporate fast is an amazing petition to our Lord. And right now there are thousands of God’s people fasting all over the world. The honor and delight that this must bring to our Father is glorious.

I want to be brief today. And offer a word of advice/encouragement and a prayer prompt for the day.

Be encouraged: Give yourself grace if your goals for fasting aren’t strictly met. I’ve been fasting for a week now and I’ve needed to eat something once a day. I feel disappointed, but I get right back up and ask the Lord to strengthen me for tomorrow. So, I’m hoping that beginning today, I can sustain and fast fully from solid foods. If you fail, just pick up and keep going.

I want to share my fast so that it might be helpful to you: Fasting all solid foods. I still have coffee (God’s gift to mankind) and I will drink a protein shake a couple times a day and orange juice when I feel lethargic. I have a ton going on this week and need to be working with a clear mind.

Prayer Prompt:

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

    test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Point out anything in me that offends you,

    and lead me along the path of everlasting life.— Psalms 139:23-24

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:13-16

In the comments, leave a quick prayer for day one of your fast. Let us bring glory to our King with our prayer and fasting. I love you, Lynn
