Ya, wow. I know.
This is what I’m sensing. See if this resonates in your heart.
This entire past season, year, from Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of 2017, I have been walking and talking about God bringing forth breakthrough in our lives. I’m convinced that indeed, there has been angelic assistance for breakthroughs. And I sense these are personal breakthroughs in our lives and our faith. I know for me, I experienced a breakthrough during Easter week that I had been praying into for more than a decade.
I sense that these breakthroughs are available for us but the devil has done everything he can to cause a delay. So, today, this is a two-fold post. One, I want to encourage you to remain steadfast in seeking your breakthroughs. Two, I want to share with you how the devil creates delay and why.
Delay is one of the most effective and widely used tactics of the demonic realm. Let me give you some Biblical examples:
As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. —Genesis 15: 12-13
It is clear that God intended for the family of Abram to be in bondage for 400 years. However, reading on in Exodus, we discover:
Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt. —Exodus 12:41
Here is another example that occurred not long after this:
The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites.” —Numbers 13:1
Now look at what happened just a few verses later:
But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. —Numbers 13: 31-32
This was a 40-year delay where the people of God remained in the wilderness and did not walk in abundance.
My friends, let’s think about this. God ordained a 400-year period for the Israelites to live in Egypt. Yet they actually were there 430. You may think, well NO BIG DEAL. What’s 30 years? Well, what if this was your life? In bitter slavery, it would be a big deal. Thirty years in Biblical time was half of a life span. Many of God's people spent half of their life in slavery that weren’t supposed to.
Again, over and over there are delays to God’s timeline. And before we move further. Every moment of time, all that we are to accomplish on this earth has already been established, written and determined. We each have books in heaven that hold all of this information (Psalm 139:16). So, if the devil can delay the fulfillment of our destinies, our purposes, our callings and accomplishments, he has thwarted the timeline of God. He has decimated our timeline and these delays can be catastrophic.
How do I know the devil delays people? Well it happened to the Apostle Paul.
For we wanted to come to you--certainly I, Paul, did, again and again--but Satan blocked our way. —1 Thessalonians 2:18
Guess what is at the end of all the books about our world? (Read the book of Revelation) Satan is defeated and thrown into the Lake of Fire.
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.—Revelation 20:10
Every, single, moment of delay is a delay of satan’s demise.
My friends, I want you to think about the delays the devil has brought about in your life and timeline. Did he tempt you into years of wandering in the Prodigal badlands? Did he place you in an unfruitful friendship, work environment, or living arrangement?
His delays are deliberate. They are demonically inspired and intentional. So, gain the understanding and in your prayer time, pray to stop all delay of God’s purposes and timeline. Then you must bring your life into obedience. If God is calling you to obedience in an area, be quick to do it. It’s likely that lingering in the disobedience is actually a cloak to cover the tactics of delay of the enemy.
Today, in the comments, tell me what comes to mind that was a delay. Then pray it free or redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Love you, Lynn
