Reader Question: Struggling with Shame and Regret

Hi Lynn and Dineen, I am writing this email because I feel an incredibly heavy burden. Right now I am struggling with a great deal of shame and an amount of regret over my decision to marry an unbeliever last year. It is tough for me to really believe that through this mistake, God will redeem any part of my situation. I love my husband, he is a good man and we have a wonderful little baby boy, but how am I really able to love him like I should when he is an ever present reminder of my disobedience? I know I am in for a long and lonely road and it seems as though every facet of my life will be affected by this. You see, I struggled with this decision and decided to go through with it. I was incredibly confused and in hindsight I know the... Read more →

And The Walls Came Tumbling Down

SUMite Nation: Let’s finish this journey of Walking The Walls of Jericho. Remember, we are in the seven times around. I’m not sure exactly where I am, five, six, seven times around but I’ve come so very far and will never relent. There are promises behind those walls. There are captives to be liberated and plunder to be regained. Everything that was stolen. And there is a devil to be defeated and cast into the lake of fire. We, the saints, are the chosen to defeat the enemy with our worship. This is who we are. And you know what awaits us?.... The sound of the Shofar... The Shofar: When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. —Joshua 6:20 The walls crumbled. Now get... Read more →

Transforming the Mind: Choosing Joy

My friends, the Transforming the Mind series is continuing. Abba keeps giving me more and more to learn and share with you. What I love so much about this is that as I teach it I’m learning it as well. Just like what it says in Romans: You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? — Romans 2:21 So if God calls you to teach, then do it! He will give you what you need to know and pass on. Now, back to our series which began with Feasting on God’s Word, then continued with Claiming and Praying God’s Promises, Giving the Holy Spirit Authority, Pleading the Blood of Jesus, and last week, Thanking and Praising. The more I learn about transforming our minds (Romans 12:2), the more I see that everything starts in our minds. Everything. Sin, transformation, healing, etc. All of it. And we have more... Walmart Update... Make Us Brave!!

Hello SUMite Nation: Well… This 5’4” blonde girl is determined! It’s been five phone calls to two different Walmart store managers combined with three visits to the Customer Service department to gain approval and what I think is a firm date for our Walmart Prayer and Random Acts of Kindness Day. Woo Hoo!!!! June 12, 2014. 10:100 am till noon. That’s a Thursday. I’ve learned a lot about the Walmart Community Calendar in the last several days. But, I’m unwavering in our cause because I believe that God will do BIG things with this community, through us, that bring His love to others and honor to His name. I Believe. I’ve had a few more thoughts. In addition to the Walmart gift cards, I want to hand out Gerbera Daisies to small children that morning. I also want to bless the cashiers and managers of the store in some way... Read more →

Reader Question: I'm the Daughter of an Unequally Yoked Marriage

Thank you for your ministry. I am the daughter of an unequally yoked marriage. My mom has recently (within the past 10 years) tried to seek godly Christian women to find support/encouragement but so far she has found none. As a result I have been the one to hear my mom vent about the struggles and pain. My parents have been married for about 40 years and only about three years ago did my dad claim to profess faith in Christ. Today's (April 26) reader question along with listening to your interview on Focus on the Family aired on March 26 has motivated me to write this email. How can you love someone for who they are when he has told you several times over the course of the marriage and continues to say to you (even with his profession of faith) that you are the cause of his unhappiness... Transforming the Mind: Thanking and Praising

My friends, I’m amazed this series is continuing (I changed the main title to Transforming the Mind, because that is truly what it’s about, Romans 12:2!) So far we’ve covered Feasting on God’s Word, Claiming and Praying God’s Promises, Giving the Holy Spirit Authority, and last week, Pleading the Blood of Jesus. When I started this series I suspected thankfulness and praise would be part of it, but up until a couple days ago I wasn't sure if this series had more. I kept asking Abba for what was next. Part of the answer arrived on Saturday, during of all places, a yard sale my family and I were doing to clean out some extra stuff in the form of a humble, older man. Let me tell you a story about a man named Frank. He stood by my the boxes of Christian fiction and nonfiction that I'd decided it... Read more →

The Seven Seasons of The Walls

Hello SUMite Nation: Today I want to share some thoughts as we continue our journey toward the Promised Land. Remember we have been talking about seasons. If we can condense the long years and seasons and see them from heaven’s view. this is what our journey truly looks like. And it’s beautiful. Day two is finished and were back at the camp. But you know what is happening here? With each step it’s a revelation of how to do this journey better, more effective, with confidence. We learn to find the joy as we cross the same territory. We sing to our kids along the way and share stories of hope. We tell them of the glory of God. On day three, we fall down. We are exhausted, confused and just plain tired. It’s our brother's and sister's turn to come along side of us, pick us up and carry... Read more →

Reader Question: I Don't Know What to Do

Hello Dineen and Lynn. My husband and I have been married for 15 years. He told me in January 2013 that he was no longer a Christian. He became an aetheist at 51 years old. I was and still am devastated. I married a Christian man and we based our marriage on the same religious foundation. We also decided to raise our children in a Christian home. To put it mildly, the past year has been hell! My husband grew up in a Christian home, went to Christian schools, and even went to seminary. He holds a masters in theology. We have been very active in our church for our entire marriage. He used to be a passionate worshiper, preschool worship leader, and leader of various small group ministries. I don't know what to do, how to survive, how to parent, how to be married to an aetheist. He is... Read more →

Kingdom Miracle - Make Us Brave!

SUMite Nation: It’s time for another community miracle. Before I tell you this next miracle endeavor, let’s just take a minute to give honor and thanks to Jesus. Our community miracles in the past have been amazing and I am absolutely convinced God moved in our miracles and He was glorified. To read about them click on the Kingdom Miracles button in the navigation bar. Over the past couple of years God has been moving me out of my comfort zone. He has pressed me to pray for people in unique and often in unexpected times and places. (Remember when God told me to pray for the old woman walking down the street? That was one of those times.) So over the past two months this strong impression from the Lord keeps nagging me about praying for people in all places……. Wal-Mart… Yup. I believe it’s God’s heart that one... Read more →

Battlefield of the Mind: Pleading the Blood of Jesus

The last three weeks we have talked about the battlefield of the mind and the transformation that the Bible speaks of in Romans 12:2, first with Feasting on God’s Word, then part two, Claiming and Praying God’s Promises and last week, Giving the Holy Spirit Authority. This week I want to talk about pleading the blood of Jesus. Through this time of breaking and rebuilding that Abba has had me in, He’s given me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the ramifications and power of the blood of Christ and what makes it so powerful. As we travel through the Word of God, we see His ultimate plan of one perfect and final sacrifice. The Old Testament is the promise of the Messiah and the preparation of His coming. The New Testament is the revelation of the Messiah and His salvation plan for us. Sacrificial blood runs through the entire... Read more →

Chronicles of the Donovan Clan - My Son And The Conference

Hello My Friends, Well, last week was quite the adventure. The conference did not disappoint. I learned a lot about fear. And my friends I think I have a lot to say about that four letter word. ahem…. My son was able to attend two of the four days. Hey, I will take what I can get. On the first day I was worried that it might be too much and that he’d tuned out. I glanced his direction and he was furiously typing on his phone. At the next break I casually asked, “So who were you chatting to on your phone?” “No one.” “Well what was with all the typing?” “I was taking notes.” Gulp. He pulls out his phone and there are pages of notes from the past session. Can I just get an….. “AMEN” Who knew. Never, ever, never, stop praying for the prodigals, and the... Read more →

God Has Declared Himself As The Greatest Physician

GOD HAS DECLARED HIMSELF AS THE GREATEST PHYSICIAN By: SUMite, Winnie B. My Beloved Child: I am the God who heals all your diseases. I heal broken bodies, broken souls, broken minds, broken hearts, broken lives, broken finances, broken homes, broken marriages, broken families, broken businesses and broken relationships. My very Presence in one’s life has immense healing powers. You cannot live close to Me without experiencing some degree of healing. However, it is also true that you have not because you ask not. You receive the healing that flows naturally but divinely from My Presence, whether you seek it or not. But there is more much more available to those who seek Me and ask Me by faith believing and not doubting Me. The first step in receiving healing is to live ever so close to Me. The benefits of this practice are too numerous to list. As you... Read more →

This Is Who We Are - AND WE ARE POWERFUL

Walking around the walls. It’s all about seasons. God impressed upon me that this story in the Bible is vital for us today as we begin to see the seasons. The Israelites walked around the walls for seven days. And then on the seventh day, they marched around seven times. It’s seasons for us. It can be a day, a year or several years (seven). I see each of the times we get up and march together as a season. My first march around the walls that contain Mike Donovan was a season of just figuring out what the heck was going on in my marriage. I had to take each step to understand why my husband was walled up and hostile to my faith. Each step forward was a tiny step of faith and progress to see how God was working in the situation and to understand the enemy’s... Read more →

The Battlefield of the Mind: Give the Holy Spirit Authority

The last two weeks I’ve talked about the battlefield of the mind with part one, Feasting on God’s Word and and part two, Claiming and Praying God’s Promises. My hope and prayer for you is that you are starting to see more and more of the promises in God’s Word and that as you read them you are turning them into prayers. You will probably find yourself doing this more and more as you read your Bible. And as we become more “interactive” with God’s Word, our minds are transformed (Romans 12:2) and lies are replaced with truth. The third part of this series is about giving the Holy Spirit authority in our lives. Romans 8:6 says the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. This is part of our submission to Jesus and allows Him to truly transform us as He has promised to do. Give the... Read more →

Is God Good?

My Friends, I don’t even know where to start. So much has happened in the last seven days that I feel like every morning I wake, God has another “Holy Mind-Blow” in store for this ordinary, 5’4”, blonde girl. Do you remember back several months ago that I promised breakthrough. Well, boy howdy, I’ve had one. Probably SEVERAL. And likely the biggest thing that has yet to happen to me in the Kingdom is still coming. Woo Hoo!! I will be sharing this new adventure with you, step by step, as I move forward. But today, I have a word for all of you who worry about your kids. I worry about my kids. I pray, A LOT, for my kids. Today’s story has been more than a decade in the making. I’ve written before about my years of praying for my son who lived in Las Vegas. Since 1999... Read more →

Reader Question: How Do I Respect Him

Today I'm tackling another reader question: Lynn, Hi there, thanks so much for getting back to me. I am worried because I feel that my marriage is more than just spiritually mismatched--it's all around mismatched. Somehow, during a period of rebellion apparently, I got myself into a marriage with a man whose core values I don't agree with. The best way I can think of it is being in an arranged marriage. I know arranged marriages work sometimes so I need to find out how. I need to know how to be respectful of my husband (since I know it's so important to men) when I don't respect his ways, basically. What do you think? A. Dear A: Girl, I KNOW exactly what you are feeling and saying. My husband and I are so opposite in our world views and belief systems. I don’t respect many of the choices he... Children At Recess Saving 10-Year-Olds - A MUST READ

My friends, Lynn here. It's been a crazy few days. I will pick up on our Joshua and The Walls story on Monday. But today I have an exciting, amazing story. I'm about to share a story with you that is another Holy Mind-blow. Some of you may recognize Olga a sister SUMite. She contributed to our book, Not Alone. Olga, found SUM in the very darkest days of living in the Ukraine and in a horrendous and abusive marriage. Olga found healing and moved to Canada a year or so ago. Olga and her daughter have been through much but they are now experiencing the love of the Father. And this story is THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER READ... Jesus to you we give all honor, praise, glory and thanks. AMEN Hi there Lynn and Dineen, I felt I needed to write you a note just sharing about... Read more →
