Saturday: A Calling To Fast
Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
I was chatting with a friend of mine about fasting. She said she had fasted several times. She fasts for three or four days at a time.
I asked her, "Why do you think fasting prayer affects our Father's heart with more power than prayer alone."
Her reply was quite insightful: "One of our basic needs as a human being is food. We crave it and need it to live. It is a fundemental part of our daily living, an entrical part. But, when we stop eating and turn that basic need over to God, it is one of the most profound offereings we can give Him.
We don't sacrifice on alter's to Him anymore but we can sacrifice our self, in other words, one of our basic needs." ~Lillia
Let's remember Jesus during his time of testing, He fasted for 40 days. He said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"
Let's look at Jericho. They prayed and marched for seven days. And do you know what happened, the walls fell down with only the shouts of the people.
God is calling me to crash through the walls, to bring them down. I have a top 10 He wants to bring forth, so, I am going to fast and pray. To humble myself not because I want my top 10 but I want to draw closer to God so I can hear His thoughts about my top 10 and how he will move me forward in them.
Join me starting today. Here is the fasting Guide to start our week. Write me as you move through this day. Remember tomorrow will be even more difficult. Don't let the devil stop you. Much is at stake. Be blessed, Lynn
