I Told You I was Fired Up!
If you talked to me face-to-face this week or over the phone or even via email, it was likely I was so hyper about Psalm 91 that I spoke it all over you. I spoke it to Dineen and Noreen, Lauralyn and Pam, Jolene and Rosheeda. Heidi, Eric and at least twenty-one other women in my Bible study groups. If I haven’t spoken it over you yet, just give me time. *grin*
I am psyched about God’s word.
I have always been infatuated, intrigued, inspired, and improved through the Holy Word of God, however, recently I am understanding, a fresh, just how powerful God’s Word is in our everyday living. I am also finding that many believers don’t fully comprehend the power of our words and the power of God’s words.
Well our time of ignorance is drawing to a close. As of today, satan, is put on notice. We are men and women who are marching for the Kingdom with God’s words going out before us. We will not be thwarted, nor defeated. As of this moment we are kickin’ butt and taking names…
I told you I was wound up!!!!!
I posted the photo below here at SUM on May 16, 2008. Hanging these scriptures in my home several years ago would be an invitation to an argument. But over time God soften my husband and today I look above my sink and know this passage is one to shout to the world. Literally.
I hope you had an opportunity to hear Connie from Friday’s post. She told us how powerful God’s Word is and the victories which avail in our lives. If you didn’t hear Connie, scroll down and listen. Also, Connie left a powerful comment following that post. Take time to read it and then come back.
Now let’s look at these few verses from
Psalm 91.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
Now I have a serious question for you. Do you really believe these words? Do you believe that no harm will befall you? No disaster will strike your home. Do you believe with all of your being, God commands angels to stand guard around your home, your car, office, and your children?
Why then does disaster strike? These are the questions believers sometimes ponder in the moments of doubt or in the midst of struggles. We are going to answer these questions to your complete satisfaction and triumph in the weeks ahead.
- We will look at “Words.”
- We are going to find the scriptures verses which instruct us with regard to words.
- We will find out why our spoken words matter very much.
- We will uncover how to have the power of Psalm 91 and all scripture living and active in our life.
- We will be able to read Psalm 91 and know we have these promises with absolute surety.
- We will take on the purpose of struggle/correction.
- We will KNOW how to pray with power and conviction.
- Our prayer life will never be the same.
Let’s begin: The key to Psalm 91 is in verse one.
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Connie pointed this out on Friday. We must abide. Dwell. Live. Inhabit. Stay. Without movement or influence from the world. We need to dwell with the Lord 24/7. If you participated in the Mind of Christ Experiment last month then you are well on your way. Dwelling with God is simply Christ on the throne of your life. Always. Period. The End.
Living in such intimate and moment-by-moment relationship is the fulfillment of verse one. If you are living verse one you are inline for the promises.
- Rest
- Refuge
- Rescue from deadly pestilence. This is a literal promise. Look at Connie’s life.
- No fear from the terror in the night Angels will guard you
- You won’t even stub your toe or bruise your heel
- You will trample the serpent (satan)
- God will answer your prayers
- He will give you long life
- He will honor you
- He will satisfy you
Why do we let these promises slip through our fingers? Why do we pray and pray and pray and God doesn’t answer with these powerful pledges? I think I know the answer to this question. It’s what we do with our words after we pray. Hmmmmm, fascinating but absolutely true. Can’t wait to tell you more about it.
We are going to examine all of this and at the end you will be able to pray down heaven. The way God has always intended. God has work for us to do. The time is short and He is calling us to be ready for battle. He does not expect us to battle a losing effort but in victory. This is our time.
If you are reading this today, YOU have been called to such a time as this. No other generation has been witness to the changes in which we are bearing witness. Marriage redefined, ramped pornography, violence, murder, greed flows ramped. But, behold Greater is He that is in me (and you) than he that is in the world. Praise Jesus.
Begin today. Go to Biblegateway.com (click here) and print out Psalm 91. Write out the first three verses on a 3x5 card and begin to memorize the first three verses. Take this card with you in your wallet, purse, brief case, laptop case, whatever. Just take it. Read it often and commit it to memory.
God’s Word stored in our memory are the bullets in the gun against the enemy. Scroll down and read the post from Tuesday about going into battle with an empty gun. Are you ready to have victory? Do you want to see God alive and active in your life? Well, here we go.
An awesome expedition awaits.
I love you. Thank you for staying with me through this long post. Our world is about to be ROCKED and it is a good thing. A very good thing. Be blessed, Lynn

I really believe that God is preparing His people for some heavy warfare in the season to come for the Kingdom, and in the year ahead for many of us who walk intimately with Him (and even those who havent' surrendered just yet.) He wants us all to Himself and He wants us equipped to do battle. This is very good thing Lynn.
Psalm 91 is printed and taped to my desk for me to read daily until I have it completely memorized.
I love your heart for God. So glad u and I are sisters in Him and friends, to boot!

Love your enthusiasm for the Word! God gave me that very verse (v. 10), when life got rocky during the recession last year. He is Faithful and True. ((Hugs))

Thanks for firing us up Lynn. Need that a lot right now. Just wanted to share too that in the Bible version I have it says for 91:12 " They will support you on their hands in case you hurt your foot against a stone". So it differs slightly from this one you have shared but I think the main principle is still there.

Caroline,
Love this version too. How cool is it to think God
sends His angels to support us with their hands...
Blows my mind. Love you. Hugs.

I'm so glad to see you so fired up for God right now. It's inspiring and I know that one day I will get to that place on a mountaintop with Christ again. I'm in a valley, I'm doing everything I can to fight off fantasies of being in a different marriage. A marriage where my husband embraces my faith and isn't repulsed by me. I'm trying to be patient in affliction and persevere, but right now I want to curl up under my blankets and hide. Tonight I will stop at the first two lines of your promises - Rest and Refuge - Jesus can you cover me like a blanket and just give me some comfort tonight! Thanks!

Lynn,
You nailed me... You are so very right. I also believe we don't receive what we pray for because of the word that comes out of our mouth after we pray. I know I for one am very guilty of throwing out the "what if" word. So what is that? DOUBT..... God is very out spoken about "if we ask - and BELIEVE".........we will receive... SUCH A GOOD WORD. I'm with ya. Have my index card made out and will begin to memorize 1-3.
Thanks for keeping us on our toes,
Holly
