  • 1Peter3Living is a group for Christian spouses living, and striving to do God's will, in a marriage that is unequally yoked. Together, we will be studying the Bible and other relevant biblically centered books in an effort to strengthen our own faith and encourage each other. Although participation is not mandatory, we hope that you will find that our discussion is prayerful, gracious, and glorifying to God.

Are You Weary?

I want to build a house up on this mountain
Way up high where the peaceful waters flow
To quench my thirsty soul
Up on the mountain
- Steven Curtis Chapman (The Mountain)

You've had a long weary day, dinner's done, everyone's eaten, your husband is watching sports on the tv, children are doing their homework, there's been no time for you and you feel like everyone just wants wants wants!

Sound familiar! Yep it's a common thing for us wives and mothers isn't it?

What do you do when you're thirsty? You drink!
What do you do when you're tired? You sleep!
What do you do when you need help? You go to God!

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

God is our almighty counselor, helper, friend, heavenly Father - he's everything! Take some time for you. Go somewhere quiet - it may be you find your garden restful, or close the door in your bedroom pull out your bible and just say nothing. Rest in God's peacefulness. Ask Him what He would like you to read from His word. There's a reason Jesus said the above verse - you can't concentrate or think when there's a multitude of distractions going on. Ask your husband if he can watch the children for a few minutes, if he can't set them up with a game or some homework, put a DVD, video or music on.

You don't need hours and hours of this - even 10 minutes is enough to refresh our busy souls. Looking after you means you're looking after your family.
