It is well.....My Story at Christian Women Online

I wrote a post last Tuedsay, October 23, 2007, which tells my story of how God worked in my heart as one of the wildfires was threatening our town. I hope you have a minute to read it today at Christian Women Online. (Go Here for: It is well)
I again thank everyone who prayed for me and my neighbors here in Southern California. As I write this post today, Saturday, October 27, 2007, there is a light rain falling. Many of the fires are extingished and all are contained.
The fire that was threatening our town on Tuesday turned back on Wednesday toward the wilderness. Thanks to the efforts of the fire fighters and the reverse in the wind direction. Praise God!
I am now praying for those who are left homeless in the wake of this fire storm. I am also praying the Santa Ana winds are finished blowing this season.
Lord, I thank you for sparing so many lives. I ask your hand of guidance and strength upon those who lost so much. Lord, I know You are often found in the wake of tragedy. I pray You will reveal Yourself to many in the weeks ahead. In Jesus name, Amen

Wow, Lynn, both posts are incredible. The photos take my breath away. Continuing to pray for all of you and so very grateful that the Lord brought rain.
After our neighbor was killed in a huge gasoline fire in his garage earlier this summer--one which we all stood and watched because nothing could be done, my children have a real fear of a fire burning down our house. I have been careful to talk to them over and over about the fires and how to pray but have avoided the pictures except when they were sound asleep. Even now I am grateful that they are in bed and not at my elbow.

WOW, as so many have said before me! These photos really bring to light the mass devastation. I recall living in the foothills in San Bernardino county growing up and having pyros set fires weekly (whoever lost the game of pool, had to set the fire...ugh). We would often wake up in the middle of the night to find a fire raging up the street from us. I recall the fear as we got on top of our roof and sprayed it with the hose. And I sweetly recall the peace God gave as He reminded us that He held us in His hand.
Praise the Lord He held you and my dear sister Laurie in His hand during this ugly time. Yet even in this, I cannot wait to see all the good God brings forth...just as He did in your heart!
Blessings to you dear sister, Julianne

I can not imagine what you went through last week. I live in the mid-west in an area that has tornadoes. With one not far from my home two weeks ago. I will continue to pray for all of you.

My gosh! How devastating.
I am so happy that you and your family came out of this unscathed, truly a blessing and miracle of God!

I've been thinking of you and praying (though not as often as I should be) for all the folks who are touched by the disastrous fires in SO CA. I'm so glad you're okay, and I love the hymn, It Is Well With My Soul. xxxooogretchen
